Staff/child ratio: 1 teacher : 10 prekindergarteners (State Regulation is 1: 16) The prekindergarten program is intended to serve as the bridge between the play-based preschool program and the academic focus of kindergarten. Children will be challenged to acquire kindergarten readiness skills in the areas of math, science, language arts, social studies, music, and art. A theme-based program of study will incorporate children's interests with the learning goals outlined in the kindergarten readiness handbook. Throughout the year, children will work with their teacher to compile a portfolio demonstrating their progress toward kindergarten readiness. At the end of the year, the prekindergarten class will participate in a graduation ceremony, in which the children will share what they learned, present special projects and celebrate the beginning of school!
